Sometimes, life is hard…

We lost one of our best little furry friends and a huge part of our family late last week. And I’ll say this: right now, life sucks.

It’s amazing how a tiny five-pound cat can make such a mark on your life. I only got to love her for the last four years and the void is incredible. Andy got to love her for 18 years, which still seems too short. They had a special bond and were so, so close. Her name was Rose, but to him she was Little Baby Cat, Rosie, Rose-a-lino, Rosebud, Ro-bo, Tiny Tim, Jo Jones, Bo Jones, Bo-Bo, Roosevelt, Sears and Rosebuck, and so many more. She was his baby. His heart is broken and mine aches not only for Rose, but for Andy too.

Sometimes, life is hard. Sometimes, life doesn’t seem fair. Sometimes, you just want to cry and cry and cry. I know things will get better, but it’s going to take some time…

  3. Karen & Andy, we're so sorry. The photos say a lot about how much she was loved. Beautiful and touching. She was lucky to have you. You were lucky to have her.

  4. Aw. We have a cat ourselves, and I know the pain it would cause if anything happened to him. Hugs to you, and I hope that you will find the strength to get through this time :-( She was such a little beauty!

  5. So sorry for the loss of your beautiful and beloved cat. Every pet I have had in my life holds a special place in my heart. I have a special companion pet that is getting on in years, so I do try to spend a lot of time cuddling it because time is taking its toll. It would be wonderful if life's end was all simultaneous so we would not have to experience the pain of losing a loved one-be it a pet, family member or friend.

  8. So sorry you had to say goodbye to Rosie...she looks like she was a little sweetheart! I know exactly how heartbreaking it can be to lose a beloved cat...my boy Spot died in 2003 after we had 13 years together. I was heartbroken for ages and still miss him all the time. My Lucy-girl helped fill the void, but it was nearly a year before I could think about having another pet. Thinking of you and your hubby, Karen!!

  9. I couldn't read the post, but I got the gist from the little blurb on my blogger dashboard. My throat closes up and I can't see the screen when I read about this. I feel it too much. Ah, see, there it goes. I'm so, so sorry. So sorry. Hugs.

  10. To have an animal own you is wonderful, they make life warm and add so much. But they are only lent for a very short time and the loss is terrible. They take a huge chunk of your heart everytime. Reading your post I was missing Foxie so much. She was born on my bed and lived for 25 short years. Her emerald green eyes, when she wanted attention, said it all. So very sorry for your loss and the pain. Unfortunately, that's the price of the love a pet gives you.

  11. My sympathies. We have a 2 year old pup that we love dearly. They're not just pets, they're members of the family, and losing them is deeply painful. But rejoice in the happy life you gave her.

  12. So sorry, Karen. We lost both our cats within 2 months of each other a few years ago and it was such a tough time for us.

  13. I am so sorry...losing a pet is so awful and only another pet owner can understand and appreciate the depth of that pain. Hang in there and hang onto those beautiful memories of that Rosie girl.

  14. Many hugs, may she rest in peace. Maybe you could craft an ornament in her memory if you celebrate Xmas.

  17. Aw, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! It's never easy to let go of a pet -- they're part of the family! The only thing that makes the pain easier is the passing of time. :(

My doggie passed away during the summer, and I still look for him at the top of the stairs whenever I visit my mom's house...

I hope you feel better soon.
